Dress code updates

Our school has officially implemented updated school dress codes in a bid to maintain order, safety, and student engagement.  One of those rules means no Crocs!

Spirit days & Silly dressing

Throughout the year, our school community celebrates School Spirit Days, when students get a fun break from the uniform code and can dress in a special theme. These days are designed to build community, boost morale, and encourage creativity.

Themes might include:

  • 🎉 100 Days of School – celebrating how far we’ve come!
  • 🌸 Retro Attire Day – dressing up from a favorite decade.
  • 💤 Pajama Day – cozy and comfortable in class.
  • 🎨 Crazy Hair Day – the wilder, the better!

The PTA helps plan these themes, and sometimes we even dream up new ones together. Families will be notified in advance of each Spirit Day, so students can plan their outfits. Participation is always encouraged, but never required.

All students are expected to wear A UNIFORM OR our school colors: yellow, grey, & burgundy. Show your school spirit every day!

    Wildcat Cub Care Closet

    Our care close is growing

    Dear Families,

At P.S. 273, we understand that our youngest learners are still mastering independence. Accidents and spills can happen during the school day—whether in the bathroom, the lunchroom, or during play.

While the school sometimes has extra clothing on hand, we kindly ask that all students in 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten bring an extra set of clothing, including:

    👕 Shirts
    👖 Pants/skirts/shorts
    🧦 Socks
    🩲 Underwear

These items should be kept in your child’s backpack or cubby in a labeled, sealed bag. Having spare clothing available ensures that your child can return to learning and play comfortably if an accident occurs.

Thank you for partnering with us to make sure every child feels safe, clean, and cared for throughout the day. 💛

    With appreciation,

    P.S. 273 School Team

    Accepting donations year-round

We also keep a small collection of gently used clothing on hand for families in need. If you have items your child has outgrown and would like to share, please bring them to the Parent Coordinator’s office. Your generosity ensures that no student goes without the essentials.

Together, we can make sure every child in our school community feels supported.

Department of Education Policy on Changing Children’s Clothing

Department of Education Policy on Changing Children’s Clothing

For the safety and comfort of all students, the Department of Education maintains the following policy regarding clothing changes in the event of accidents:

    • Student Privacy: School staff are not permitted to physically change a child’s clothing. Staff will provide guidance and support while ensuring the child’s dignity and privacy are respected.
    • Extra Clothing: Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to send an extra set of labeled clothing (including underwear and socks) for children in 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. These items should be kept in the child’s backpack in case of an accident.
    • Emergency Clothing Supply: The school may have a limited supply of extra clothing on hand. However, it is not guaranteed that sizes will be available.
    • Parent Notification: If a child requires a change of clothes and does not have a spare set, the parent/guardian will be contacted and asked to bring clothing to the school.
    • Hygiene and Safety: Students will be supported in cleaning up as independently as possible, with staff providing supervision and encouragement as needed.

This policy ensures that all children are cared for with respect, while maintaining professional boundaries and school safety guidelines.
