We're a Community School

🐾 MEET OUR COMFORT DOG, CHASE!

While our mascot is the mighty Wildcat, it’s our DOE Comfort Dog, Chase, who truly steals the spotlight! Chase is here to bring joy, teach empathy, and make our school a happier place. Come say hello to our little furry friend!

The Department of Education (DOE) Comfort Dog program brings trained therapy dogs into schools to support students’ emotional well-being. Comfort Dogs provide a calming presence, help reduce stress and anxiety, and encourage positive social-emotional learning. They work alongside staff to create a safe and nurturing environment where students can feel supported and focused on learning.

Greater Impact

P.S. 273 is a community school, which means we work closely with families, local organizations, and community partners to support every child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Being a community school allows us to offer extra programs, resources, and services—both in and out of the classroom—so that students and families have the tools they need to thrive.
